"EXPRESS YOURSELF"
Exploring
Creativity
|When
I visualize exploration, Star Trek immediately comes to mind. It was also and remains
one of my favorite Sci-Fi shows. Often, when we think of creativity, we
approach it in the vein of generating something new. You’re not wrong, but it reaches
further than new ideas. It is a quality that allows us to think outside the
box, envision possibilities, and express ourselves in many ways.
If
I were to define creativity, it would mean self-expression. An introspective window
into one’s mind, translated through whatever means you choose to share with the
world. There are many ways to nurture expression and creativity that you may
not have realized.
Self-expression
should never become generalized as it is equal parts individualism and
corporate. Meaning it is singular but allows others to join in the discussion.
We
see creativity as genius or groundbreaking, something we’ve never seen before,
but you’ve probably witnessed creativity and didn’t realize what hit you. You
were waiting for something unique, and sometimes it was. But then, you started
to see it for what it was: self-expression.
Hello!
Sometimes,
pre-assumption cloaks creativity. That may sound strange since it’s supposed to
be innovative and new. But we need to see it through a different lens. Confused?
Let me explain.
A
child viewed as misbehaving or distracted isn’t always factual but may be a sign
of creativity. They don’t always know how to express whatever creative juice
flows through them, so they use any means available.
For
example, writing or drawing on walls is not always bad. Isn’t that how some of
the world’s most famous artists started?
We
should never stifle but encourage with a positive redirection of energy that
can stimulate and inspire creativity further.
Let’s
embrace curiosity and allow young minds and ours to stay curious.
Collaboration
is a spark that flames creativity. What’s the saying? “Two heads are better
than one.” Conversations with like-minded individuals are a resource for creativity.
Creativity
allows us to see ourselves through the expression of others. It can help
establish identity. So many people lack a true picture of who they are and who
they want to be.
That
is not to say we should emulate or copy, but recognize and learn from the
experience.
Creativity
is a journey, and embracing the process rather than solely focusing on the result
is essential. Explore, experiment, and enjoy creative potential.
