"THRILLER"
Best Thriller/Mystery Books of 2020
Well, 2020 isn’t over, nor has it been a complete disappointment. Still, we’ve experienced many things that can depress you beyond words.
But I
have something for you today that will lift spirits and perhaps an excellent
outlook for the remaining months of 2020.
So, I’m
a romance writer/reader, not that it matters, but I’ve learned to broaden my
horizons in many areas starting with a new genre of stories.
I’ve
entered the universe of sci-fi, action thrillers, and the mysterious realms of
reading.
I’m
addicted to them but at the same time introduced to a bevy of great writers who
know their stuff.
If
you haven’t started your Christmas shopping yet, allow me to suggest buying
audiobooks or eBooks for the avid readers in your family.
I’ve compiled
a list of the best thrillers/mysteries and suspense in my opinion of 2020. Let
me add that the competition was fierce. I’d love to shout out every author I
had the great fortune of reading these past months, but honestly, there are too
many of them to list.
Therefore,
I’m giving you the top 10 best books that I’ve read for 2020.
1. When
No-One Is watching by author Alyssa Cole is a New York Times Instant Best
Seller. No need to wonder why because this book took the top spot for a reason.
It’s phenomenal. If you ever wondered about how gentrification is a master
takeover, well, this book will take it to a whole different level. By the way,
this author is also the author of The AI who Loved Me.
2. The
Wives by Tarryn Fisher. I was so confused but in a good way. I was riveted throughout
this book—excellent writing and storytelling.
3. The
Good House by Tananarive Due is a play on words because there is nothing good
about this house. In fact, it’s a house of terrors and Voo-Doo. I’ve never been
so afraid to turn the page but compelled to because I couldn’t wait to see what
happened next.
4. The
Getaway by Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanem is a novella, but a story packed
with excitement and intrigue. It starts with a dream getaway that becomes a
nightmare. Just a reminder that some things are too good to be true, so always
read the fine print.
5. The
Perfect Child by Lucinda Berry reminds me of Case 39. This story is more than what
meets the eye. Some children are scary, but this child spun from a demon seed
is horrifying. You might want to read this one with the lights on.
6. The
Gift by Alison Gaylin is another novella, a short but sweet tale. When the eight-year-old
daughter of two affluent parents goes missing, they call in a physic to help
find her. But is the physic talented or knows more than he lets on?
7. The
Best of Friends by Lucinda Berry will have you guessing who done it throughout
the book. Three boys, a gun, one dead, another injured, and the surviving
friend who’s unable to speak or tell their parents what happened—an awesome
read.
8. In
Her Shadow by Mark Edwards is mysterious as it comes. A woman has doubts about
the death of her sister. When her young daughter starts sharing details about
her death, it creates more doubt about what really happened.
9. The
Other Wife by Claire McGowan is such a tangled weave of tales. Caught up in their secrets and lies,
these strangers will soon realize they have more in common than they could ever
have imagined. When a shocking event brings them together, their lives will
never be the same again.
10. When
I Was You by Minka Kent Brienne is
a recluse after a terrible accident. Still, the growing confidence in her new
routine is shaken when she stumbles across unsettling evidence that someone
else is living as…her. Same name. Same car. Same hair. Same clothes. She’s even
friended her family on social media. To find out why Brienne must leave the
safety of her home to hunt a familiar stranger.
